Types of Hair Perm

Salon Perms Salon perms will always do a better job and are a lot safer .Also professional hairdressers can offer a number of different types of perm that are not available for home use.

Acid perms

Produce highly conditioned, flexible curls. They are ideally suited to hair that is fine, sensitive, fragile, damaged, or tinted, as they have a mildly acidic action that minimizes the risk of hair damage.

Alkaline perms

Alkaline perms give strong, firm curl results on normal and resistant hair.

Exothermic perms

Exothermic perms give bouncy, resilient curls. "Exothermic" refers to the gentle heat that is produced by the chemical reaction that occurs when the lotion is mixed. The heat allows the lotion to penetrate the hair cuticle, conditioning and strengthening the hair from inside as the lotion moulds the hair into its new shape.

Hi,
umm- when i have wet hair after getting out of the shower, my hair starts to frizz really bad on the top(almost in a dreadlock kind of way)and would a perm kind of relax it a bit? because the frizz would be rolled with the perm rolls? I have naturally wavy hair to start with though. would it make it frizzier?

Thanks! I have SUPER heavy hair that won't hold curls. I had a at-home body perm about 8 years ago and I hated it. Given it was at home and body only. IT had a bad crimping effect. It has made me happy to know that salons will have what I need for my hair, and the fact that it is fine or heavy is okay.

I'm black and my hair is texturized and its midlength(lower than my shoulder and a good way down my back) Would it damage my hair to get a curly perm? and if not what kind would be best for my hair?

i wear my hair down because it takes forever to straighten it and it's too thick to curl it with a curling iron and have it stay like i want it through the school day. it's medium length and thick. ive been looking online but i cant find the style that ive been thinking of. i dont want little curls, and i dont want it to end up frizzy or poofy. What kind of perm would be good for me?

I was wondering what kind of perm gives the big curls and not the tight kinky curls. I have thick hair that does its own thing between wavy, straight and slightly curly.

I have short about to my shoulders ,very flat hair and wanted to perm my so I can have curly hair. What type of perm do I need to get in order to have smooth big curls? I have medium length fine hair, and would like a perm that would have large soft curls, but would like the option to be able to straighten it and be easily manageable.
