How to Clean a Curling Iron?

How to clean a curling iron after a beautiful hairstyle. Here are some reviews of curling iron cleaning quoted from forum.

Try Steel Wool....I use this to clean mine, and the curling iron looks brand new.

When I used a curling iron, I used rubbing alcohol to clean them. With the iron off and cold to the touch of course!

For burnt on hair spray on your curling irons I used some easy off oven cleaner. I just sprayed the irons and let the solution sit for about 30 minutes (longer if they are really really dirty.) Then I used a copper pot scraper and presto! Clean just like new.

How to Clean Hairspray off a Curling Iron

This works best for curling irons that are crome plated, not the painted type. Use a paste of baking soda and a little water. Rub it on gently and wipe off with a damp, soft cloth.

Which is the best way to clean a curling iron like mine? It's not chrome; it's black & I think it's coated with a teflon-type coating... I don't want to damage it, but it is sooo nasty-looking and I'm a germophobe! In the past I've tossed them & just boought a new one.

I used the baking soda solution, and it really worked. I hope my hair don't smell like burnt hair anymore. The alcohol sound like it could dangerous. Thank you Denise.
